Welcome to Cannon Barn Montessori! Founded in 2013, we are a family run business and purpose-built nursery based in Pinner providing childcare from 6 months to 5 years of age. We have experience of caring for children for over 25 years and hold a steady reputation in the Pinner community.
Our founder, Janani, has been passionate about teaching young children from an early age. She studied for her Montessori Diploma in 1984 and since then has spent her time and energy in to curating an enriching and nurturing environment for children to develop their interests, thrive in themselves and excel in their academic achievements.
We pride ourselves in our wonderful and nurturing team. Our Key Staff are qualified and fully committed to helping your children learn and develop as their own individual person. With utmost respect and care, our kind and friendly team will take time to give your children personal attention and make them feel warm, welcome, and safe in our nursery. All our staff have an Enhanced DBS check, hold a minimum Level 2 in Safeguarding, a minimum Level 2 in Food Hygiene, and are Paediatric First Aid Qualified.
Our nursery has consistently received a Good in Ofsted ratings in recent years and we are proud of our achievements and growth. We strive to continue to develop and learn to provide the best possible care for our little ones. We are confident that we can help your child achieve their full potential in our happy and homely environment.
Our nursery comprises of three classrooms on the Baby/Toddler Side (A Tiny Tots room, A Toddler room, and A Two-Year-Old room). We have two spacious gardens- one at the heart of the school and the other a small baby garden located at the front. We have a light and airy open plan Montessori Room- a large classroom for mixed ages and a mezzanine floor to accommodate small/focused group activities.
We are extremely lucky to also have The Barn: a beautiful, listed heritage sight and a wonderful addition to our explorative spaces. In The Barn we hold dance classes, physical development activities, language classes, exercise time, pretend play, soft play- you name it, The Barn has seen it! We, children and team alike, love this space as a zone away from the classroom structure.
We are proud to say that we have been achieving a LEVEL 5-star food hygiene rating. We provide a fully catered menu, with fresh food prepared and cooked on site. A range of delicious dishes are served up to support growing minds, bones, and nutrition! We cater for vegetarians, pure vegetarians, and non-vegetarians, we do not cook beef or pork and all our meat is sourced locally from a Halal butcher. A sample menu will be shared at the viewing.
Ana is a qualified, experienced and dedicated Modern Foreign languages teacher. She has a BA and a Postgraduate Certificate in Education for Modern Languages and has been teaching at schools and nurseries for almost twenty years. Ana has been working at our nursery for three years teaching Spanish. In Ana’s lessons she covers; counting up to 1-20, greetings, the colours, the animals, the parts of the body, foods and transport to name a few. Ana uses lively, catchy songs with actions and dance moves that the children quickly memorise. She also uses flash cards to support learning, books and videos to keep the children entertained but more importantly, engaged. The puppets Juan and Lola, which the children love, occasionally make an appearance too, especially for the Buenos Dias song at the start of lessons. In Ana’s lessons, children have found more than an additional language to learn- they have become confident in speaking aloud, learning new songs, building up their confidence and finding new interests to take home and share with parents. We are frequently told by parents that children are coming home singing and speaking in Spanish…. And trying to teach parents a word or two, too! Our children look forward to our weekly classes with Ana, to see what she, Juan and Lola have in store for us!
Miss Amy’s performing arts classes involve lots of fun Dancing, Singing & Drama using upbeat music for the children to bounce around to. Encouraging self-expression and creativity, while teaching them foundation movements to develop coordination, balance and flexibility. We always have so much fun! Lunge and Leap is a program offering fitness classes and education on healthy habits in an entertaining and fun way. Being physically active every day is important for the healthy growth and development of toddlers and pre-schoolers. Children love the classes and always have a big smile on their faces. We have been working with Click IT! for many years. They offer professional and fun computer lessons to preschool children aged 2-5 years at the nursery every Tuesday morning. Their interactive, fun, structured weekly lessons will show your child how to use a computer confidently and efficiently using the mouse, keyboard, touch screen and educational software specifically designed for the EYFS curriculum. Working in small groups with a 1:3 ratio, these tutor- led sessions will help your child excel in their IT skills, social skills, and key learning skills such as phonics, numeracy, problem solving and coding. Click IT! is a very popular club at nursery as the children have great fun whilst learning.
